Reishi Tea Recipe

With winter starting to kick off with a nice amount of snow, I thought I would share one of my favorite tea recipes I usually make for my wife, when it gets a bit nippy out. Reishi Tea is super easy to make, it is even easier to grow at home! We will soon be launching Reishi Grow Kits for home grow. I’ll post a DIY method to professionally dehydrate your own mushrooms at home in a later post.

The one thing I learned at my time working at several Manufacturing Facilities is the way nutrients, flavor, taste, and texture are affected when dehydrating or drying. There are several ways to dry material but they all have pro and cons, mainly it comes down to three things Time, Cost, and Nutrients. The methods I found best were always the ones that took the most amount of time, when making good food it takes love, patience, and care. I think it is quite easy to taste, smell, feel something that was created with love or passion vs something that’s soullessly pumped out to maximise profits.

The Recipe:

Reishi Tea Concentrate

  1. Start with 20 grams sliced dried Reishi.

  2. Bring to a Boil 4 quart (16 cups) of water in a pot

  3. Set to simmer and toss in the sliced Reishi

  4. Simmer the solution for 1 to 2 hours

  5. Take the lid off, turn on high and boil the tea down to make 1 quart or 4 cups

  6. Pour through a strainer into a 1 Quart Jar, then once the mushrooms cool I give them a good squeeze straining any remaining juices

  7. You can use the soft Reishi to make tinctures, place in Vodka and let it seep for months to years!

**Reishi Tea Concentrate can be stored in a mason jar and canned to saved for later or shared with friends and family.

Reishi Tea

  1. Bring 4 Cups of Water to a boil in a pot, reduce to simmer

  2. Add 1 cup of Reishi Tea Concentrate into a pot

  3. Pour into your favorite tea pot

  4. Juice 1 Lemon and pour into the tea pot and add zest if you like

  5. Finish with 1 Tbs of your favorite Honey (I usually get my honey from a blueberry farm in the summer)

Honey is a healthy natural sweetener, added bonus if its from local bees as there have been scientific studies on how Local Fresh Unpasteurized honey can reduce your hay fever.

The Lemon helps balance the bitterness of the Reishi and great for the body, including making your body more alkaline, which provides other natural benefits.

Thats it! Bon Appetite!

**The tea can be made with any of the Reishi Strains: Black, Red, Antler, etc.
