How to Grow Mushrooms Outside

The best way to discard of spent mushroom blocks is by burying in them in your garden or backyard. By planting the mycelium block and topping it off with fresh food (cellulose, fiber, sawdust, etc) the mycelium will continue to thrive in the ground and locking carbon in the ground and aiding in converting CO2 into Soil Organic Carbon (SOC). Soil Organic Carbon is made when CO2 in the soil is converted into harmless Carbonates. Furthermore, Mycelium can help balance soil pH by providing a source of CO2, provide organic source of fertilizer, and promote soil aeration. By planting and introducing mycelium into your garden you’re providing numerous advantageous benefits to your garden. Who knows you may also end up with a nice seasonal harvest of mushrooms as well.
